An exciting time as Lily Swanton graduates and leaves for Florida State, Ava Stiglic for the University of Florida and Lyndsey Turnage to the University of Central Florida. Advisors, Nancy Branham, Linda Mitchell and Pam Blumenthal have watched these GFWC Little Women of Lutz grow from girls to GFWC young women ready to take on the world! Best wishes ladies!! The GFWC Lutz-Land O’ Lakes Womans Club celebrated awards earned, membership anniversaries and the installation of five new members at its last general meeting and luncheon before summer.
Six of the Little Women of Lutz joined our club members to travel to the St. Pete/Clearwater Airport on April 15th to welcome home the Honor Flight. Seventy-five veterans and their guardians arrived home after spending the day in Washington DC. The girls really enjoyed attending the event and felt pretty special as the Colonel thanked each of them for attending.
On 5/13, a bingo fundraiser was held at the Brass Tap on HWY 54. The event packed the Brass Tap with over 100 people in attendance including 44 GFWC women. Many local businesses donated gift cards and items for prizes. The DeBartolo Foundation donated $3,600. The event raised funds for the GFWC Florida President’s Project “Flight to Honor”. Woman’s Clubs across the state of Florida are in the process of raising funds to sponsor an all woman veterans flight to Washington DC in 2026. The 18 women working on the event were members that had joined the club within the last 2 years. See the group photo below. They did a fantastic job.
Over the past decade, the GFWC Lutz-Land O’Lakes Womans Club has
proudly awarded over $150,000 in scholarships to help students achieve
their dreams of higher education.
This year, we’re thrilled to continue that tradition by celebrating
our 2025 scholarship recipients! The Green shirt ladies joined these
outstanding students recently at the Lutz Train Depot, to congratulate
them as they take the next step in their academic studies.
