Health and Wellness Community Service Program
The human body, mind and spirit comprise our health and wellness. Our Health & Wellness Community Service Program is designed to improve our wellbeing and address 3 key components: nutrition, disease prevention, and physical and emotional care. Our Community Service Program aims to explore the various opportunities for awareness and advancement of each of these vital areas for our club and in our community, country and world. The opportunities to volunteer and participate are endless….
Our current projects include:
- Learning ways to improve our overall health by exploring the Blue Zones Power 9-Moving Naturally, having a sense of purpose, managing stress, eating until 80% full, prioritizing a plant-based diet, enjoying wine in moderation, belonging to a community, prioritizing family, and surrounding yourself with supportive social circles.
- Creating awareness and providing support through activities, events and fundraising for the American Cancer Society, Meals on Wheels and Heifer International.
- Sewing comfort pillows, turbans, seatbelt port protectors, drain bag covers, and artificial breast prosthesis for breast cancer patients.
- Visiting and providing craft activities to Land O Lakes Senior Center and Lutz Senior Center.
- Providing donations to local Food Banks, as well as items to support a local school’s weekend Pack-A-Sack program.
- Supporting women in need at local facilities through monetary donations and items needed for daily living.
- Supporting Trinity Café, a full-service restaurant for people in need of a healthy meal.
- Providing items for a complete holiday meal to local schools.
