WOMAN’S CLUB AND LUTZ LITTLE WOMEN WELCOME HOME HONOR FLIGHT

May 1, 2025

The Lutz Land O’ Lakes Woman’s Club and its youth counterpart, the Lutz Little Women, came together in a heartfelt show of support at St. Pete–Clearwater International Airport on April 15 to welcome home veterans returning from Honor Flight 52.

The Honor Flight Network transports America’s veterans to Washington, D.C. free of charge, to visit the memorials dedicated to their service and sacrifice. Upon their return, they are met with a warm, patriotic welcome—something many never received after their service, especially those who served in the Vietnam War.

One club member, Jeannie Stratis, took her support a step further by participating in the flight itself as a guardian, accompanying one of the veterans throughout the day.

The emotional evening was filled with smiles, tears, and gratitude—from both the veterans and those there to honor them. For many of the servicemen and women, it was the first time they had received a formal thank-you for their military service.

THE WALKING TOURIST PROJECT

March 31, 2025

The GFWC Lutz Land O’ Lakes Woman’s Club proudly shares the results of their Health & Wellness-sponsored initiative, “The Walking Tourist Project.” Participants collectively walked an impressive 1,581 miles, tracking their steps weekly.  These miles were then converted and plotted on a Florida map to visualize their journey.

The project focuses on promoting the concept of “Move Naturally,” one of the Blue Zones Power 9 principles for longevity and well-being. As participants make their way across the mapped route, they receive a weekly Travel Guide highlighting key information about their virtual destinations, fostering both physical activity and learning opportunities. “This initiative encourages our members to stay active while also exploring new places virtually,” said Nancy Branham, Chair of the Health and Wellness CSP.

The GFWC Lutz Land O’ Lakes Woman’s Club remains dedicated to initiatives that enhance the well-being of its members and the broader community. By incorporating movement into daily life in an enjoyable and educational way.
