GFWC LUTZ-LAND O’LAKES WOMAN’S CLUB longtime member, Elaine Pittman, affectionately known in the community as “The Plant Lady”, has propagated and sold enough plants at various Woman’s Club events to present yet another check for $1,000 to her favorite charity, Christian Social Services of Land O’Lakes. Ms. Petet, Director, gratefully accepted the check on behalf of the many homeless and food insecure in the area who will benefit from this donation.
WOMAN’S CLUB DONATES CHILDREN’S BOOKS
GFWC LUTZ-LAND O’LAKES WOMAN’S CLUB members have donated and collected a large number of children’s books in conjunction with the GFWC Federation Reading Initiative for Children. The books were delivered to numerous local laundromats and local schools where there is a great need to encourage small children to learn and to love reading. They are given these books at no charge to enjoy at home and share with their siblings.
Woman’s Club Puts Flags on Veteran’s Graves
Members placed flags on the graves of veterans at two local cemeteries in Lutz and Land O Lakes. This practice has been a club tradition for more than 2 decades to respect and honor those service members who have served and protected us so well.

WOMAN’S CLUB CELEBRATES LOPEZ VA NURSING HOME’S 20th ANNIVERSARY
GFWC LUTZ-LAND O’LAKES WOMAN’S CLUB members attended the 20th Anniversary Celebration at the Baldomero Lopez Veterans’ Nursing Home in Land O’Lakes. The Woman’s Club has supported the veteran residents since the nursing home’s inception in 1999 through volunteerism and donations. A club team provides an evening of bingo entertainment and prizes for the veteran residents and serves refreshments on a monthly basis plus many other events for their benefit.
Earth Day Education & Conservation CSP Collaboration
GFWC LUTZ-LAND O’LAKES WOMAN’S CLUB Education Chair Pat Wagner and Conservation Chair Lonna Vizzari collaborated and joined their efforts recently when Education shared its bounty of donated children’s books with Conservation to be distributed free of charge to children participating in Earth Day activities at Crews Lake Wilderness Park. Additional books were donated to Eryn Williamson of the Forest Service as an educational tool when she speaks to groups of school children.
