Woman’s Club Supports Everglades Through Eagles Project
GFWC LUTZ-LAND O’LAKES WOMAN’S CLUB participated in a GFWC statewide project to raise much-needed funds to replace visitor signage in the Everglades park, which funds will be matched by a grant. The club purchased two unadorned eagles and two of our talented in-house artists, Cyndie Smith (unavailable for photo) and KarenSue Molis beautifully hand-painted them. The eagles were showcased at the GFWC convention and then put up for adoption by generous sponsors. Ms. Molis’ eagle has already been adopted by the Wesley Chapel Noon Rotary and the other eagle is still available for adoption.

Woman’s Club Welcomes Return of Honor Flight
GFWC LUTZ-LAND O’LAKES WOMAN’S CLUB members attend the return each and every Honor Flight after veterans visit to the Washington DC war monuments. Dee Knerr and her team are present to honor these veterans and present them with a “STAR” packet for their service, rescued from retired American Flags. These packets are meant to be carried in breast pockets near their hearts to remind them of their faithful service and sacrifice.
Woman’s Club Commemorates Our 9/11 Heroes
GFWC LUTZ-LAND O’LAKES WOMAN’S CLUB members turned out in force, as it has since 2002, to respect and commemorate our national tragedy of 9/11/2001. The group stood at the Old Lutz School in Lutz for hours waving flags at passing vehicles. The truckers were particularly affected and let us hear them! Meanwhile, another member, Beth Nevel-Rader, herself a former Lutz Volunteer Fire Dept. Chief, personally delivered boxes of doughnuts to a number of Lutz and Land O’Lakes Fire/Rescue Stations and conveyed our appreciation for their dedication and service to our community.
Woman’s Club Awarded Guv’na Grant
GFWC LUTZ-LAND O’LAKES WOMAN’S CLUB, proud sponsor of the annual Lutz 4th of July Parade & Celebration, was recently awarded a grant by the Lutz Civic Association which oversees the Guv’na charitable race. Members recently attended the Lutz Guv’na awards ceremony and were presented with a $1500 grant from the Guv’na funds raised by new Lutz Guv’na Pam Lancaster and her opponent, club member Jane Mason, which funds benefit local non-profits and charities. The award granted to the Woman’s Club will further benefit our community through their many projects.
