GFWC LUTZ-LAND O’LAKES WOMAN’S CLUB members participated in their monthly ESO book club meeting and enjoyed brunch while they were in deep discussion. The ladies belong to ESO (Epsilon Sigma Omicron), an honorary educational society and federation-supported under GFWC, and thoroughly enjoy choosing a best seller or a classic book each month to read and discuss among friends.
GFWC LUTZ-LAND O’LAKES WOMAN’S CLUB members were present at the St. Pete-Clearwater Airport to enthusiastically welcome veterans home from their recent Honor Flight to Washington, DC to tour the War Memorials. The vets, for the most part, were from the Korean and Vietnam War era. The ladies were there to honor the veterans and present them with special flag stars to commemorate their service.
GFWC LUTZ-LAND O’LAKES WOMAN’S CLUB members stopped in to visit the clients of the Lutz Senior Center to chat and served them delicious breakfast treats. All the seniors enjoyed this unexpected visit, camaraderie and generous hospitality from the clubwomen.
GFWC LUTZ-LAND O’LAKES WOMAN’S CLUB members worked hard to raise funds at its Arts & Crafts Show to benefit Baldomero Lopez State Veterans’ Nursing Home residents. The clubwomen presented a check for $1700 to Sharon Richmond of Operation Patriot, which group works to organize special events and entertainment for the residents’ enjoyment. This donation will be used to benefit the veterans directly and will provide many little extra items and special treats which mean a great deal to them.
GFWC LUTZ-LAND O’LAKES WOMAN’S CLUB members participated in the Annual American Cancer Society Relay for Life fundraiser held at the MOSI campus. The clubwomen together with their teen-sponsored club, GFWC Little Women of Lutz, collaborated to form a very enthusiastic team. This year’s team theme was “Pirates of the Cure-ibbean” with the ladies and young women dressed in colorful pirate costumes and hats. Despite torrential downpours, the team was able to raise over $1200 to benefit research in finding a cure for cancer.
GFWC LUTZ-LAND O’LAKES WOMAN’S CLUB has always prioritized education and supports the wonderful local teachers and schools as often as it can. Club member, Sabrina Scott (pictured center), recently visited Lutz Elementary K-8 School to deliver a cartful of snacks and treats to PTA representatives which will be distributed to the teachers this week as small tokens of the club’s gratitude and in commemoration of “Teacher Appreciation Week”. Similar gifts of appreciation were delivered to the teachers at Connerton Elementary and Miles Elementary Schools . These 3 schools have received support from the Woman’s Club for many years.
