GFWC LUTZ-LAND O’LAKES WOMAN’S CLUB chairperson, Madeline McCulloh, was recently tasked with counting and sorting an enormous donation of eyewear to be distributed via the Lion’s Club to Third World countries. Ms. McCulloh arrived at a total of 322 eyeglasses, 83 sunglasses and 147 eye glass cases from this single donation which doesn’t even include the club’s normal collection. The Woman’s Club has long supported the Lion’s Club through it’s International Outreach Program.

FALL MINI-FLEA MARKET – Sept. 23 – NEW LOCATION

GFWC LUTZ-LAND O’LAKES WOMAN’S CLUB will hold its annual FALL MINI-FLEA MARKET at the Land O’Lakes Community Center (Rear Building), 5401 Land O’Lakes Blvd., Land O’Lakes 34639

WHEN: Friday only, September 23, 2016 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Stop by and shop, with all proceeds coming back to our community through the Woman’s Club donations and community service work. Everyone knows that the Woman’s Club flea markets are the BEST!! Bargains galore with clothing, household items, décor, accessories, shoes, books….the works, but no large furniture.

Also offering delicious baked goods.

ANNUAL DOMESTIC VIOLENCE SHOWER, LUNCHEON & BUNCO PARTY

GFWC LUTZ-LAND O’LAKES WOMAN’S CLUB will have its ANNUAL DOMESTIC VIOLENCE SHOWER, LUNCHEON & BUNCO PARTY on THURS. OCTOBER 6, 2016 at Lutz Community Center, 101 1st Ave. NW, Lutz 33548 to benefit two local domestic violence shelters for women and children. The public is welcome to dine in or take-out.

Bunco games (with prizes) will begin promptly at 10 a.m. with lunch to follow from 11.30 am to 1 pm.

A $10 donation will include a delicious luncheon with beverage, salad, entrée & desserts.

Donations of products to help meet the needs of the women in residence are most welcome. Suggestions: Hair products, soaps, makeup, deodorant, underwear, sleepwear, personal hygiene, jewelry, scarves, fragrances, slippers, etc.

Gift cards are also welcome

Patriotic Lap Blankets for Vets

GFWC Lutz-Land O’Lakes Woman’s Club has delivered over 50 patriotic-themed lap blankets to the B. Lopez Veterans’ Nursing Home in Land O’Lakes and the James A. Haley VA Hospital in Tampa as part of their numerous programs to support our troops. Amy Nicholson, RN at Haley, and daughter of former club President Barbara Nicholson, has personally knitted these blankets for wheel-chair bound and hospitalized vets and has asked the Woman’s Club to distribute them on her behalf.

One of Returning Honor Flight WWII
GFWC LUTZ-LAND O’LAKES WOMAN’S CLUB members came out in force to greet returning WWII vets from their Washington DC Honor Flight trip to visit the WWII monument and other landmarks. Club women met the flight at the St. Pete-Clearwater Airport, waved flags and cheered the return of these veterans whose aging ranks are being depleted on a daily basis.
