GFWC LUTZ-LAND O’LAKES WOMAN’S CLUB Public Issues Chairperson Marguerite Humet and fellow club member Dianne Finn have recently assembled, packed and shipped 42 boxes of necessities and treats to female members of the military stationed abroad. Many times the needs of woman troops are overlooked in gift packages so these club women sought to help fill this gap by stepping up and providing “girl stuff” to our women serving overseas.

GFWC Lutz-Land O’Lakes Woman’s Club longtime member, Aniko Solomonson, has once again delivered an SUV filled with sleep mats to a homeless outreach group in Tampa. Ms. Solomonson has pioneered the project of ‘crocheting’ recycled plastic supermarket bags into practical and weatherproof bed rolls for people who are living on the streets. She teaches the club women as part of their crafting workshops and enlists everyone to save, fold and cut the bags to size. Ms. Solomonson has delivered many completed mats to various areas in the community wherever needed. She has also instructed numerous church and volunteer groups on this process as well as fielded questions from as far away as Canada and Central America.
