GFWC Lutz-Land O’Lakes Woman’s Club longtime member, Aniko Solomonson, has once again delivered an SUV filled with sleep mats to a homeless outreach group in Tampa. Ms. Solomonson has pioneered the project of ‘crocheting’ recycled plastic supermarket bags into practical and weatherproof bed rolls for people who are living on the streets. She teaches the club women as part of their crafting workshops and enlists everyone to save, fold and cut the bags to size. Ms. Solomonson has delivered many completed mats to various areas in the community wherever needed. She has also instructed numerous church and volunteer groups on this process as well as fielded questions from as far away as Canada and Central America.

GFWC LUTZ-LAND O’LAKES WOMAN’S CLUB well-known member and in-house green thumb specialist, Elaine Pittman, a/k/a “The Plant Lady” in the community has once again donated $500 to Christian Social Services in Land O’Lakes which has long-served the area’s needy and homeless. Ms. Pittman grows, propagates, pots and sells plants at club events throughout the year and saves all proceeds for CSS. She has for many years donated her target amount of $1,000 per year and due to a dire need this summer has stepped up earlier with a half-year’s donation.

GFWC Lutz-Land O’Lakes Woman’s Club has put together another memorable 4th of July Parade & Celebration in Lutz….probably the largest ever. Crowds came out along the parade route and then celebrated with all kinds of family-oriented festivities and fun events at the Historic Lutz Train Depot Park. It was a fabulous day for the community and another big success for the Woman’s Club.

GFWC Lutz-Land O’Lakes Woman’s Club members are busily prepping their club parade float entry in the Annual Lutz 4th of July Celebration with this year’s theme of “Volunteer– Put Your Heart Into It”. The Woman’s Club has sponsored this terrific old-time small town parade for decades and thousands of locals come out for a true family Parade and Celebration.

GFWC Lutz-Land O’Lakes Woman’s Club members (plus a daughter) enjoyed a wonderful outing of hot air ballooning this week and lived to tell their story. These gals are an adventuresome lot and loved their experience aloft. The ladies took a break before preparing for the fabulous Lutz 4th of July celebration.
