GFWC LUTZ-LAND O’LAKES WOMAN’S CLUB members, although still on club summer hiatus, are busily preparing for the holiday season which is fast approaching. The club women were handcrafting beautiful holiday greeting cards to be distributed among senior centers, meals on wheels recipients, ALF residents and veteran nursing homes. This busy volunteer group will have a very full calendar in the coming months working on a multitude of their community projects and events.

GFWC LUTZ-LAND O’LAKES WOMAN’S CLUB MEMBERS ENJOY A DAY OF CRAFTING
GFWC LUTZ-LAND O’LAKES WOMAN’S CLUB members spent an enjoyable afternoon learning some unique crafting, followed by a fundraising luncheon to kick-start its Relay for Life events. The clubwomen learned “quilling” techniques from Sharon Morse (a GFWC Brandon Junior Club member), which is an ancient (13th Century) artistic method of rolling thin strips of paper into dazzling 3-D designs.
Also on display were a number of beautifully painted rocks by member, Paula Tapper. Especially interesting was Ms. Tapper’s striking stone portrait of artist Frida Kahlo.
GFWC LUTZ-LAND O’LAKES WOMAN’S CLUB DONATES TO QUANTUM LEAP FARM
GFWC LUTZ-LAND O’LAKES WOMAN’S CLUB members have toured the Quantum Leap Farm facility in nearby Odessa several times in the past and were very impressed by its mission. The facility welcomes veterans, EMTs, active duty military, children in the autistic spectrum, and others with disabilities. The clubwomen invited a staff member to speak to the members at a recent meeting to explain the special mission and service of this organization. As a token of appreciation, chairwoman Jan King and club president Elayne Bassinger presented a donation check to this very worthy organization to help toward costs involving shelter and care of the horses and other support animals on the farm property.
New Banner for GFWC Lutz-Land O Lakes Woman’s Club
GFWC LUTZ-LAND O’LAKES WOMAN’S CLUB has prominently displayed a new banner in Lutz celebrating its large number of volunteer hours (832,853) and projects (9,667), over the last decade alone, devoted to serving its community and well-beyond. Needless to say, many thousands of dollars have been raised by these hard-working club women and distributed to charities and great causes far too numerous to list. The club is very proud of its accomplishments and wishes to bring public attention to its mission and commitment to serving the neediest. These are the GREEN SHIRT LADIES in action since its inception in 1960!

GFWC LUTZ- LAND O’LAKES WOMAN’S CLUB SPONSORED 4th of JULY CELEBRATION IN LUTZ
GFWC LUTZ-LAND O’LAKES WOMAN’S CLUB sponsored another fabulous small-town parade and celebration in Lutz. The patriotic theme was “Red, White & Lutz”. Many floats participated in the parade followed by the “inauguration” of Guv’na of Lutz, an annual fun campaign to raise funds for community service organizations. The winner raising the most funds was the Club’s supported candidate, Jerome Smalls, proudly wearing his sash in photo above. CONGRATULATIONS TO GUV’NA JEROME!
The celebration also included a foot race, cake bake contest & auction, children’s games and activities and good old-fashioned fun for all, despite the sweltering temperatures.
