WOMAN’S CLUB TOURS HENRY B. PLANT MUSEUM

May 1, 2024

GFWC LUTZ-LAND O’LAKES WOMAN’S CLUB went to the Henry B. Plant Museum and enjoyed a two hour tour graciously provided by club member, Faith Sincich, who is a longtime docent at the museum.  Since 1933, the Tampa Bay Hotel has been home to the Henry B. Plant Museum and The University of Tampa. The Museum ignites thought and transports visitors to another era through exhibits and innovative programs, so that they may be educated and inspired by the lifestyles, times and experiences of Florida’s early tourist industry. Original furnishings, artifacts and a dynamic self-guided audio tour immerse visitors in the opulence of the 1891 Tampa Bay Hotel and its rich history.

GFWC LUTZ-LAND O’LAKES WOMAN’S CLUB GARDENERS SPRUCE UP ITS SENSORY GARDEN AT CAMP IDLEWOOD

April 23, 2024

GFWC LUTZ-LAND O’LAKES WOMAN’S CLUB gardening members have been giving the club’s ‘Sensory & Meditation Garden’ at Camp Idlewild in Land O’Lakes a good spring facelift and weeding.  Nancy Taylor, who usually maintains the garden single-handedly, has enlisted the help of members Ellen Brayton and Debbie Williams for this heavier workload to put the garden in optimal blooming condition for the busy summer camp season.

Camp Idlewild provides special camping programs adapted for children with special needs and the Woman’s Club has supported the camp from its inception.

GFWC LUTZ-LAND O’LAKES WOMAN’S CLUB ‘PLANT LADY’ DONATES AGAIN TO CSS FOR UNHOUSED

April 23, 2024

GFWC LUTZ-LAND O’LAKES WOMAN’S CLUB longtime member, Elaine Pittman, a/k/a The Plant Lady once again has donated $500 to Christian Social Services in Land O’Lakes, which organization provides goods and services to the area’s unhoused and food insecure population.  Ms. Pittman has for decades raised funds by propagating, potting and selling beautiful plants to raise funds dedicated to CSS, her favorite charity, and at age 94 shows no signs of slowing down her efforts.
Over the years, the beloved Plant Lady has generously donated thousands of dollars to this organization.   Well-done, Ms. Pittman!

The Woman’s Club tries hard to support those in need and who may be somewhat forgotten in our community.

April 3, 2024

GFWC LUTZ-LAND O’LAKES WOMAN’S CLUB members prepared and enjoyed a lovely kickoff luncheon to raise funds for the American Cancer Society’s ‘Making Strides Against Breast Cancer’.  The clubwoman began their work early in order to meet their lofty goal to support this very important cause.  Many club members, family members and friends have experienced or lost loved ones through this difficult disease and they wish to do their part in working toward a cure.
