GFWC Lutz-Land O’Lakes Woman’s Club has long supported CARES of Pasco County, a senior social services agency, both by monetary donations and call center volunteer hours. Since 1987, club members have volunteered at the call center and made weekly reassurance calls to area infirm and shut-ins. CARES honored these member volunteers at their annual dinner and the Woman’s Club received recognition as a “Bronze Sponsor” by making annual donations in excess of $500.

Woman’s Club Announces Cancellation of Lake Park Arts & Crafts Show
GFWC Lutz-Land O’Lakes Woman’s Club regretfully announces the cancellation of its Annual Arts & Crafts Show in Lake Park on Dec. 5 and 6, 2015 due to unforeseen circumstances well beyond its control.
Unfortunately the Hillsborough County Park Rangers have discovered a sinkhole which has recently opened on the main ingress/egress roadway into the park and due to safety concerns and liability issues, the County has deemed the road unusable until remedial measures can be taken. The woman’s club has been the major sponsor of this very large and popular annual event for the past 35 years. Longtime Chairpersons Phyllis Hoedt and Shirley Simmons and their committee wish to assure all their vendors and the community that their club is already at work formulating plans for an even bigger and better Arts & Crafts Show for 2016. For more information, please contact Phyllis Hoedt at 813-949-1937.
“Gone With The Breeze” Mystery Dinner Theater Fundraiser
GFWC Lutz-Land O’Lakes Woman’s Club members recently wrapped their madcap production of “Gone With The Breeze”, a mystery dinner theater fundraiser. The audience formed teams and voted to determine the culprit guilty of stealing the money. This first and hopefully annual show was a great sold-out success and the audience clearly enjoyed the performances of these talented women.

Informational Booth at USF Health
GFWC Lutz-Land O’Lakes Woman’s Club members recently manned an informational booth at USF Health to familiarize students and staff with CCI and the upcoming DogFest Celebration on campus on November 8. Club members Edwina Kraemer & Nancy Fisher have chaired fundraising efforts for Canine Companions for Independence (CCI) – Wounded Veterans’ Initiative for more than a year. Mr. Morton Stone (pictured above) is a retired Navy veteran, who after a 2.5 year wait, was the grateful recipient of Oscar, a specially trained CCI assistance dog. These wonderful dogs after being carefully vetted are put through a very expensive and rigorous training program before being matched with the needs of the disabled recipient. Fundraisers have been held over the course of the past year as this training/boarding and selection process is lengthy and very costly.
