GFWC LITTLE WOMEN OF LUTZ PREPARED FUNDRAISER LUNCHEON

August 7, 2018

GFWC LITTLE WOMEN OF LUTZ members, with guidance from their GFWC Lutz-Land O’Lakes Woman’s Club Advisors, recently prepared and served a lovely luncheon for the Woman’s Club. This luncheon was a fundraiser in order to raise the necessary funds to send one or more of their teen members to the annual Hugh O’Brien Youth Leadership Training Seminar (HOBE). This leadership training has proven to be very successful in providing young people with valuable tools to lead in their schools, church groups and communities. For information on meetings and membership opportunities with this volunteer group of young teens, please contact Advisor Jane Mason at 765-617-7575.

Pillow Party

August 6, 2018

GFWC LUTZ-LAND O’LAKES WOMAN’S CLUB members have again spent hours over the summer sewing, stuffing and delivering “comfort” pillows to area hospitals for breast cancer patients post-surgery. Over 400 hundred pillows were delivered to Moffitt Cancer Center, Hope Lodge and Florida Hospital. This summer new member Barbara Booth (in 3rd photo) alone sewed 290 pillows. We are especially proud and appreciative of Barbara’s generous dedication of her time and effort toward this worthwhile project.

Members Attend GFWC International Convention in St. Louis

July 8, 2018

GFWC LUTZ-LAND O’LAKES WOMAN’S CLUB sent a team of members to the recent GFWC International Convention in St. Louis. The local club women joined a large delegation of Florida clubs to share ideas of service opportunities with this international federation of dynamic women volunteering in their communities across the globe and to celebrate their success. The Woman’s Club made a donation to the ‘Rise Against Hunger’ project which feeds needy and food insecure. Hundreds of the delegates worked to package enough foodstuffs to provide 36,000 individual meals for those in need around the world through this “Rise” group.

“Green Shirt Ladies” Out in Force at Lutz 4th of July Parade

July 8, 2018

GFWC LUTZ-LAND O’LAKES WOMAN’S CLUB plays a huge role in the success of the annual Lutz 4th of July Parade and Celebration. For decades, the Woman’s Club has sponsored and helped organize this wonderful family-oriented community party honoring our country’s birth and the military serving it. The clubwomen organized the parade and participated with their club float together their teen group, Little Women of Lutz, marching alongside them. They also organized the popular cake/pie contest and solicited vendors for the event.
