WOMAN’S CLUB MOURNS THE PASSING OF MARILYN WANNAMAKER, FORMER 2 TERM PRESIDENT

March 7, 2019

GFWC LUTZ-LAND O’LAKES WOMAN’S CLUB is in deep mourning over the recent passing of Marilyn Wannamaker, their beloved former President, who served 2 separate terms in office. Marilyn, a longtime Lutz resident, had for the past two decades devoted herself to community service most particularly through the Woman’s Club, serving in nearly every office and in every capacity. She was always a tower of strength, the backbone of the club and a pillar of the community. Marilyn was also deeply involved in the historic Old Lutz School, the former Lutz Volunteer Fire Department and, perhaps most dear to her heart, served as longtime advisor to the Little Women of Lutz, the teen service club, sponsored and mentored by the Woman’s Club.

Marilyn had always chosen angels as her theme and as a symbol of her deep faith. We feel certain that she is truly at peace now in the arms of angels. Ms. Wannamaker is survived by her two beloved sons, Mark Peterson (wife, Val) and Scott Peterson.

RIP Marilyn

February 1, 2019

GFWC LUTZ-LAND O’LAKES WOMAN’S CLUB members regularly volunteer at the Wesley Chapel warehouse of the “Support the Troops” and work to pack many boxes of needed items to be shipped to military serving overseas. The club women find it very rewarding to help send goodies to those serving abroad on our behalf. The Woman’s Club has for many years supported this organization through donations and volunteer hours.

WOMAN’S CLUB TOURS LOCAL RECYCLING FACILITY

February 1, 2019

GFWC LUTZ-LAND O’LAKES WOMAN’S CLUB members recently visited the Covanta Recycling Facility in Spring Hill on a tour organized by Conservation Chair, Lonna Vizzari. The club women are very diligent in their efforts to educate and encourage recycling within the club and the community at large. Through their tour, the group learned a great deal about the process and all the positive benefits to the environment which responsible recycling brings.
