WOMAN’S CLUB FILLS ”OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD BOXES”

November 12, 2018

GFWC LUTZ-LAND O’LAKES WOMAN’S CLUB enjoyed a “fill the box” day on behalf of Samaritan’s Purse Charity “Operation Christmas Child”. The club women donated a room filled with various small toys, gifts and personal care items which they packed into a record 107 boxes now ready for shipment within our country as well as abroad to the neediest of children. These boxes will bring happiness to kids who may not otherwise receive a single Christmas gift.

WOMAN’S CLUB ASSISTS WITH MEALS ON WHEELS PROJECT

November 4, 2018

GFWC LUTZ-LAND O’LAKES WOMAN’S CLUB members gathered at Hillsborough County Meals on Wheels to assemble and cover over 60 collection boxes with colorful paper. These collection boxes were delivered to various locations in the area for public donations of games, puzzles and personal care items for the house-bound and elderly who find it difficult to get out to shop on their own. The Woman’s Club members are attempting to give these shut-ins a merrier Christmas through their work and their donations.

Club members were joined by the GFWC Little of Women of Lutz (their sponsored teen club) and by club Boosters, all of whom were decked out in some form of outlandish pink regalia. Club President Karin D’Amico was particularly colorful wearing her large pink breast cancer ribbon and pink pony tails to draw awareness to this disease and the cure.

Fundraiser to Benefit Sunrise Domestic Violence Shelter

October 21, 2018

GFWC LUTZ-LAND O’LAKES WOMAN’S CLUB held a very successful fundraiser and luncheon to benefit Sunrise Domestic Violence Shelter of Pasco County. Chair Mary Anne Lykins coordinated the event at which the venue was awash in a sea of purple as club members wore purple to bring attention to the serious topics of domestic and sexual violence. The Woman’s Club has supported this and other area shelters for decades with monetary donations as well as much-needed goods and clothing. The clubwomen enjoyed the luncheon as they raised over $1100 which was presented to the Shelter, together with a filled-to-the-brim truckload of donated items to assist the shelter’s residents.
