Woman’s Club Awarded Guv’na Grant

September 4, 2019

GFWC LUTZ-LAND O’LAKES WOMAN’S CLUB, proud sponsor of the annual Lutz 4th of July Parade & Celebration, was recently awarded a grant by the Lutz Civic Association which oversees the Guv’na charitable race. Members recently attended the Lutz Guv’na awards ceremony and were presented with a $1500 grant from the Guv’na funds raised by new Lutz Guv’na Pam Lancaster and her opponent, club member Jane Mason, which funds benefit local non-profits and charities. The award granted to the Woman’s Club will further benefit our community through their many projects.

Lutz-Land O’Lakes WC Crafted Fabulous Chapeaux

August 29, 2019

Who knew that such lovely hats could be made from humble newspapers? A & C Chair Lois Cohen brought yet another unique crafting project to the women which immediately spurred a stiff competition. Paula Tapper was the winner although it was very difficult to choose among the beautiful creations.

WOMAN’S CLUB MEMBER PRESENTS STARS TO VETERANS

July 14, 2019

GFWC LUTZ-LAND O’LAKES WOMAN’S CLUB has a wonderful ongoing project meant to honor our veterans and currently serving troops. Club members collect and respectfully cut stars from the fields of retired flags and insert into packets with a very moving and patriotic verse, which packet is meant to be carried in a breast pocket near the heart. Kumi Skillman, a club member, while on vacation in Cedar Key, presented these stars to 2 veterans she noticed in a restaurant. Ms. Skillman explained the contents and the intent and both veterans were very moved by her kind gesture.
