GFWC LUTZ-LAND O’LAKES WOMAN’S CLUB members recently welcomed the group of Veterans returning from their Honor Flight to visit the Washington, DC WWII, Korean & Vietnam War Memorials, during which wars they served. The Woman’s Club proudly supports and honors our Veterans in many ways throughout the year through their volunteerism.
WOMAN’S CLUB ASSISTS WITH ANNUAL PASCO COASTAL CLEANUP
GFWC LUTZ-LAND O’LAKES WOMAN’S CLUB had a team of members assisting with the 2018 Pasco County Coastal Cleanup as they have for many years. Co-Chairs Lonna Vizzari and Nancy Allen coordinated the club’s effort and the club team registered well over 400 volunteers who came out individually, in church and/or community groups to improve the quality of the environment by collecting tons of trash from along the area roadways.
WOMAN’S CLUB COMMEMORATES 9/11 WITH FLAGS
GFWC LUTZ-LAND O’LAKES WOMAN’S CLUB members gathered and waved flags to commemorate our country’s tragedy of 9/11/2001 at the historic Old Lutz School, as they have done for the past 17 years following that event. The club members proudly held their flags high and waved as trucks and vehicles passed, loudly blasting their horns and giving a “thumbs up” in support of the women’s efforts to NEVER FORGET!
WOMAN’S CLUB CANINE COMPANIONS FUNDRAISER A BIG SUCCESS!!
GFWC LUTZ-LAND O’LAKES WOMAN’S CLUB is proud of the success of it’s recent “BOW WOW BINGO” Fundraiser held in memory of its late former President Edwina R. Kraemer. Ms. Kraemer had spearheaded this event for years and her Co-Chair Nancy Fisher picked up the gauntlet to produce a larger-than-ever event. The Woman’s Club is so pleased that many GFWC members, church and community groups joined them to honor Edwina’s memory and contribute to her favorite cause: Canine Companions for Independence (CCI).
WOMAN’S CLUB MOURNS THE PASSING OF EDWINA KRAEMER
GFWC LUTZ-LAND O’LAKES WOMAN’S CLUB is in mourning over the recent passing of its past President Edwina R. Kraemer. Mrs. Kraemer is well-known throughout the community as a long-time educator, a church woman in her beloved (Fabulous) First Methodist Church of Lutz, and as a very active club member/officer serving the Lutz-Land O’Lakes communities and well beyond. Edwina Kraemer is most remembered for her laser-like commitment to fundraising on behalf of her beloved Canine Companions for Independence. She was very successful in raising thousands of dollars on behalf of this charity and received a WEDU Community Service Award this past spring. Most importantly, Edwina was a loving and devoted wife to David Kraemer surviving her, mother to her most beloved son, S. Keith Vickery, his wife Pam and dear granddaughter, Gwen.
The Lutz-Land O’Lakes Woman’s Club will long remember Edwina for her strong work ethic, organizational skills and commitment to service as well as her quiet and dignified demeanor. The Woman’s Club will celebrate her life with the upcoming annual “Bow Wow” fundraiser event which she had long conducted, however this time and henceforth, it will be named “In Honor of Edwina R. Kraemer”….. We thank you, Edwina, for all you’ve contributed to the Lutz-Land O’Lakes Woman’s Club and the community over your many years of service. We will miss you, our dear friend and club sister.
GFWC LITTLE WOMEN OF LUTZ PREPARED FUNDRAISER LUNCHEON
GFWC LITTLE WOMEN OF LUTZ members, with guidance from their GFWC Lutz-Land O’Lakes Woman’s Club Advisors, recently prepared and served a lovely luncheon for the Woman’s Club. This luncheon was a fundraiser in order to raise the necessary funds to send one or more of their teen members to the annual Hugh O’Brien Youth Leadership Training Seminar (HOBE). This leadership training has proven to be very successful in providing young people with valuable tools to lead in their schools, church groups and communities. For information on meetings and membership opportunities with this volunteer group of young teens, please contact Advisor Jane Mason at 765-617-7575.
