GFWC LUTZ-LAND O’LAKES WOMAN’S CLUB Education Committee held its annual “Back to School Supplies” fundraiser luncheon and used the proceeds to shop for school supplies for local schools. Club members generously donated several SUVs filled with additional supplies which were delivered to several area schools where the need is greatest. The Committee will continue to collect items in the coming weeks to stock teachers’ cabinets with necessary items as well.
WOMAN’S CLUB MEMBER PRESENTS STARS TO VETERANS
GFWC LUTZ-LAND O’LAKES WOMAN’S CLUB has a wonderful ongoing project meant to honor our veterans and currently serving troops. Club members collect and respectfully cut stars from the fields of retired flags and insert into packets with a very moving and patriotic verse, which packet is meant to be carried in a breast pocket near the heart. Kumi Skillman, a club member, while on vacation in Cedar Key, presented these stars to 2 veterans she noticed in a restaurant. Ms. Skillman explained the contents and the intent and both veterans were very moved by her kind gesture.

WOMAN’S CLUB ‘PLANT LADY’ BREAKS HER OWN RECORD
GFWC LUTZ-LAND O’LAKES WOMAN’S CLUB longtime member, Elaine Pittman, affectionately known in the community as “The Plant Lady”, has propagated and sold enough plants at various Woman’s Club events to present yet another check for $1,000 to her favorite charity, Christian Social Services of Land O’Lakes. Ms. Petet, Director, gratefully accepted the check on behalf of the many homeless and food insecure in the area who will benefit from this donation.
WOMAN’S CLUB DONATES CHILDREN’S BOOKS
GFWC LUTZ-LAND O’LAKES WOMAN’S CLUB members have donated and collected a large number of children’s books in conjunction with the GFWC Federation Reading Initiative for Children. The books were delivered to numerous local laundromats and local schools where there is a great need to encourage small children to learn and to love reading. They are given these books at no charge to enjoy at home and share with their siblings.
Woman’s Club Puts Flags on Veteran’s Graves
Members placed flags on the graves of veterans at two local cemeteries in Lutz and Land O Lakes. This practice has been a club tradition for more than 2 decades to respect and honor those service members who have served and protected us so well.
