GFWC LUTZ-LAND O’LAKES WOMAN’S CLUB recently attended a fundraiser golf tournament at Innisbrook Golf Resort for the benefit of veterans. As part of a very popular and ongoing project of the Woman’s Club, its members presented each veteran present with a star, removed from retired American flags, together with a very touching and patriotic verse in a pocket sleeve meant to be worn close to one’s heart. The recipients were all deeply moved and very appreciative of their star packets.

GFWC LUTZ-LAND O’LAKES WOMAN’S CLUB members met to plant rows of flags on the Old Lutz School property along US 41 and hung their club banner in celebration of July 4th. The women look forward to their customary, BIG old-fashioned small town parade and celebration returning bigger and better than ever for July 4, 2022!

GFWC LUTZ-land O’LAKES WOMAN’S CLUB recently honored Phyllis Hoedt for her 45 years of service to the club and commemorated the occasion by President Annette Bellingar presenting her with a 45 year pin. Ms. Hoedt is a past president of the Woman’s Club and has long been active in community service. Longtime friend, a 40 year club member and a past president, Shirley Simmons, was also present to congratulate Ms. Hoedt on this special occasion.
LUTZ-LAND O’LAKES WOMAN’S CLUB DELIVERS SLEEP MATS FOR THE HOMELESS
GFWC LUTZ-LAND O’LAKES WOMAN’S CLUB members, KarenSue Molis and Aniko Solomonson delivered a fully loaded cartful of sleep mats hand-crocheted by a number of club women to The Well, an organization which serves the homeless in Tampa. These mats are made from recycled plastic grocery bags and can easily be rolled up and carried, while serving as a waterproof barrier for those in need. Ms. Solomonson brought this project to the woman’s club a number of years ago and has taught members and mentored other clubs in this project of dual purposes: helping the homeless and keeping these plastic bags out of our landfills.
LUTZ-LAND O’LAKES WC HANDCRAFTS BABY ITEMS FOR MILITARY FAMILIES
GFWC LUTZ-LAND O’LAKES WOMAN’S CLUB members, under the direction of Chair Linda Mitchell, have been busily knitting baby caps and blankets for the March of Dimes program supporting the 2021 Baby Blanket Challenge for military new moms and their newborns. The ladies have already sent their first shipment and will continue knitting hundreds more items between now and the December program deadline.

GFWC LUTZ-LAND O’LAKES WOMAN’S CLUB wrapped up their business year with a very festive and sparkling Roaring 20’s themed luncheon at the Temple Terrace Country Club. The ladies were dazzling in their fringed frocks and headbands, all sequined, bejewelled and feathered to the hilt. The ladies celebrated the end of a long, difficult covid club business year, however will by no means take a summer hiatus but will continue their projects and volunteerism throughout.
