GFWC LUTZ-LAND O’LAKES WOMAN’S CLUB members spent 2 days of their busy volunteering schedules visiting and socializing with the lovely seniors at Land O’Lakes Senior Center and Lutz Senior Center.  The ladies showed up in costume and enjoyed a morning of crafting Halloween and Fall centerpieces with the clients.  The seniors thoroughly enjoyed their visit with the very outgoing clubwomen and left with some lovely holiday crafts to decorate their homes.  The club members regularly visit both centers, always bringing with them treats, craft projects and lots of laughter.  A lovely good time was had by all!

GFWC LUTZ-LAND O’LAKES WOMAN’S CLUB members have enthusiastically supported the annual American Cancer Society’s “Making Strides” Walk at The Shoppes at Wiregrass for many years through active participation and generous monetary donations.  The clubwomen ‘manned’ the Welcome Tent at the event and Little Women of Lutz members, their teen adjunct club, passed out water bottles to the thirsty walkers.  As always, these ladies add a high level of fun to whichever event or project they are participating in, such as enjoying a break on the BIG pink comfy chair and greeting onlookers.

 

 

 

GFWC LUTZ-LAND O’LAKES WOMAN’S CLUB members immediately mobilized to donate clothing and other requested items by those in great need in the Port Charlotte area, so devastated by Hurricane Ian. The clubwomen are working in a collaborative effort with Hillsdale Baptist Church in Tampa and Tri- City Baptist Church in Port Charlotte to deliver and distribute the donations in an expedited manner.

GFWC LUTZ-LAND O’LAKES WOMAN’S CLUB was recognized recently by the Lutz Civic Association at the awards ceremony which disbursed the fundraiser proceeds raised by the Lutz Guv’na race to local community non-profit organizations.  Newly ‘elected’ Guv’na Atlas Cortecero, who won the race and his title, by virtue of raising the most funds during his campaign, distributed the awards. The Woman’s Club was presented with checks representing 2 grants totaling $5,600, which funds will again benefit the community through its various club projects. 

GFWC LUTZ-LAND O’LAKES WOMAN’S CLUB proudly funded member Pam Blumenthal to represent it on the recent Honor Flight escorting veterans to visit the war monuments in Washington, DC.  Ms. Blumenthal served as “guardian” to 30 year veteran of the Army AND Navy, Henri Bellavance, who resides in Largo, Florida.

Afterward, our Guardian Pam regaled the club with wonderful anecdotal accounts by the veterans of their wartime experiences and their appreciation for being honored with this special trip.  Upon arrival of their return flight, the vets were surprised with some even moved to tears by the hearty “welcome home” reception at the airport by our club members as well as many other groups applaudin

GFWC LUTZ-LAND O’LAKES WOMAN’S CLUB longtime ESO Reading Sorority members were honored with very special ‘Century pins’ representing the amazing numbers of books which they had read and reported on.

The honorees are:

SHIRLEY SIMMONS has reached her 17^th Century status with over 1700 books read.  She was presented with a beautiful pin with an embedded diamond.

BARBARA BOOTH has reached her 6^th Century mark after reading more than 600 books and was awarded a pin with a deep blue sapphire.

LUCY ALBURY, who is ESO Chair, has achieved her 2^nd Century of over 200 books read and her pin featured an amethyst.

Heartiest congratulations to these high-achieving, very well-read and erudite clubwomen!!
