GFWC Lutz-Land O’Lakes Woman’s Club will soon begin preparations for its popular Annual Flea Market at the Old Lutz School. Members will be present on each Monday and Wednesday in February (beginning on 2/2 & 2/4) from 9 a.m. to 12 noon at the historic Old School on Hwy. 41 in Lutz to accept community donations of clothing, household items, décor, small appliances, all of which must be in good condition and in working order. Their Friday & Saturday, March 6 & March 7 Flea Market is a large club fundraiser which helps to support its many charitable contributions to area non-profit organizations as well as scholarships to local students. Please stop by the school with your items and mark your calendars for the Flea Market dates. The community always looks forward to this event and the club women want to make it even more successful this year.
2014 Volunteer of the Year
GFWC Lutz-Land O’Lakes Woman’s Club is proud to announce that longtime club member, Gloria Dale, was selected unanimously by the membership as its “Volunteer of the Year”. Ms. Dale has for many years served as Chair of CARES telephone reassurance calls to the elderly and shut-ins, hand-writes thousands of greeting and holiday cards each year to veterans and those serving overseas and is Land O’Lakes Honorary Mayor for Life as a result of her tireless work on behalf of her community. The Woman’s Club heartily congratulates Gloria Dale for this well-deserved honor.
Donation to CSS for Food Pantry
GFWC Lutz-Land O’Lakes Woman’s Club longtime member, Elaine Pittman, has once again come to the aid of Christian Social Services in Land O’Lakes. When she learned that the food pantry shelves at CSS were almost bare, Elaine stepped up and donated $600 at holiday time for families in need. Ms. Pittman annually makes a donation of $1,000 raised entirely by herself through her propogating, potting and selling plants at numerous Woman’s Club events through the year. Our “Plant Lady” decided that since the need was so great at this time, she would contribute early her proceeds presently at hand and continue her work.
2015 Scholarships
GFWC Lutz-Land O’Lakes Woman’s Club will soon accept applications for its 2015 scholarships available to qualified students. In addition to the Woman’s Club scholarships, a limited number of the Lutz Volunteer Firemen’s scholarships will also be available and administered through the Club under the direction of Scholarship Chair, Barbara Nicholson.

The same application form will be used for both scholarships and will be available at Lutz and Land O’ Lakes High Schools, Erwin, Pasco-Hernando Community Colleges and Hillsborough Community College by the end of January. Christmas Tree at Old Lutz School
GFWC Lutz-Land O’Lakes Woman’s Club under the direction of Arts Chairpersons, Karin D’Amico and Aniko Solomonson, had each of its members personalize a little Ms. Piggy ornament for their club tree as part of the annual Old Lutz School’s Community Festival of Trees display.
This year’s theme was taken from Club President Kay Taylor’s motto: “When pigs fly….” and proved to be quite colorful and hilarious.
Donations for Support the Troops
GFWC Lutz-Land O’Lakes Woman’s Club members manned their “Support the Troops” booth at the recent Lutz Arts & Crafts Show, along with Joe Fornino, who regularly volunteers at the “Support the Troops” Wesley Chapel warehouse facility. A total of $900 was collected and donated to this organization to cover the cost of mailing care packages to our troops serving overseas.
