GFWC Lutz-Land O’Lakes Woman’s Club team members participated in their monthly project of packing cartons of treats and requested items to be shipped to active duty military serving overseas. This well-supported club volunteer effort takes place at the Wesley Chapel warehouse of the “Support The Troops” organization, headed by Club Chair Donna Losch and usually includes a club husband or two.

Honoring the outgoing chairs of the Annual Lutz Arts & Crafts Shows
GFWC Lutz-Land O’Lakes Woman’s Club recently honored the outgoing chairs of the Annual Lutz Arts & Crafts Shows, for planning and managing this very large and popular event each December for the past 36 years, notwithstanding the sudden cancellation of this year’s show at the 11th hour due to a sinkhole opening. Shirley Simmons and Phyllis Hoedt, both longtime Lutz residents and fixtures at every Woman’s Club activity and community event, are, after 36 years, retiring from steering this massive show which was a year-long project for both over more than 3 decades. These ladies tirelessly dealt with everything from signing on 300+ vendors, overseeing park layout of vendor booths, conferences with the County and Park Rangers as well as dealing with the 30,000 annual attendees who so look forward to this event each December. The Woman’s Club congratulated these ladies and honored their long service by presenting them with inscribed plaques containing a collage photos of the Art Show over the years. Ms. Simmons and Ms. Hoedt will continue to serve as advisors to the new transition committee in planning a newer and even better show for 2017.
