GFWC Lutz-Land O’Lakes Woman’s Club and AARP-Land O’Lakes Chapter congratulate dual member Ciel Birkett, who was recently honored and presented with the National AARP Annual and REA Unit Community Service Award by Phyllis E. Bross, Esq., President, AARP Chapter #4764, on behalf of AARP Headquarters in Washington, DC. Ms. Birkett, of Land O’Lakes, was selected for this national honor in recognition of her many years of volunteer work as a Chapter Leader and Board Member in her service clubs and community, her volunteer work on behalf of cancer awareness, Relay for Life, Making Strides Against Breast Cancer and her help in lifting up the area’s homeless.
Baldomero Lopez VA Nursing Home Volunteer Appreciation Tea
GFWC LUTZ-LAND O’LAKES WOMAN’S CLUB members were recently honored at the Baldomero Lopez VA Nursing Home in Land O’Lakes with a Volunteer Appreciation Tea. The club member volunteers were presented with a Certificate of Appreciation for their many volunteer hours of providing monthly bingo games and bake sales in order to provide extra spending money for the veteran residents’ personal items and treats. The Woman’s Club has generously supported this veterans’ facility for many years.

American Cancer Society Relay for Life 2017
GFWC LUTZ-LAND O’LAKES WOMAN’S CLUB members, under the direction of Chair Ciel Birkett, formed a team of members to participate in the annual American Cancer Society Relay for Life recently at Steinbrenner High School. The club raises funds each year in support of this fight in the war against cancer, particularly since so many club members and their families have been impacted by cancer.

Supporting the Land O’Lakes Library
GFWC LUTZ-LAND O’LAKES WOMAN’S CLUB members volunteered at the recent Land O’Lakes Library ‘Mad Hatter’ themed tea party for children. The ladies, as part of their Education Committee, supported this library special event by helping to decorate, setup and serve at the tea which was enjoyed by the young readers.
