GFWC LUTZ-LAND O’LAKES WOMAN’S CLUB members continue its massive face mask production line, however safely alone at home per corona regulations.

GFWC LUTZ-LAND O’LAKES WOMAN’S CLUB members coordinated and executed a wonderful special Birthday Parade past longtime member, Elaine Pittman’s home to celebrate her 89th.
Honking cars lined her street, each with signs, balloons, messages and cards to celebrate and honor their dear Elaine, a/k/a throughout the community as the “Plant Lady” and longtime supporter of Christian Social Services food pantry. In this time of corona “safe at home” it was necessary to do things differently so they chose a long parade of at least 30 vehicles as well-wishers from the neighborhood joined in.

GFWC LUTZ-LAND O’LAKES WOMAN’S CLUB is so grateful that it was able to put on its very popular Fabulous Flea Market early this month before the corona virus had brought almost everything in our lives to a screeching halt. The club is very relieved that their Flea was a big success as its 2nd largest annual fundraiser, which enables them to be generous to our community and beyond with its myriad of projects. Even the aftermath of leftover donations benefit numerous non-profit groups and organizations, so its impact is a wide one on the community, especially now when needs are so great.

GFWC LUTZ-LAND O’LAKES WOMAN’S CLUB’s longtime Sunshine Committee Chair, Gloria Dale, in addition to her day job of sending out 1000s of handwritten holiday and greeting cards to veterans, military, seniors, nursing homes and VA hospital patients, has amassed a huge amount of bottle caps which were to be recycled into garden benches for veterans’ facilities. This project, however, has been cancelled and the Woman’s Club would like to donate these plastic caps to a local non-profit group which may have a recycling use. Ms. Dale has painstakingly counted well over 6000 caps. Please contact the Woman’s Club through its website: www.gfwclutzlandolakeswomansclub.org OR its Facebook page if your group has a good use for these caps. Help us save the landfill space!

GFWC LUTZ-LAND O’LAKES WOMAN’S CLUB President Annette Bellingar has recently presented Boy Scout Troop 12 (Lutz) with a club donation of $2,000 in appreciation for their assistance at many Woman’s Club functions and projects. The Woman’s Club has long supported Troop 12 and has enjoyed its collaboration with this fine group of young men.

FABULOUS ‘MODELS FOR HIRE’ FASHION SHOW fundraiser benefitting VSA / ARTS 4 ALL- USF Program was a HUGE success with 97 present to enjoy the fun and antics, breaking all prior attendance records.
Eight members modeled stunning outfits and accessories pulled from the Flea Market donations and auctioned by President Annette. Debbie Cardona won a trophy for “Best Coordinated Outfit” and Nancy Taylor for the “Most Original Outfit”. Wendi Finklea, Program Director and Pat Fosnaught, Regional Coordinator of Arts 4 All served as judges. A delicious luncheon was prepared and served by members.
All proceeds of this event will benefit the comprehensive arts and music programs for handicapped and disabled students in our area. Many thanks to all members who helped with preparations, setup, donations of food, attendance and support of this very worthwhile event. Special thanks to Lois Cohen and Dorrien Zilavetz for serving as luncheon and fashion show coordinators, Annette Bellingar as emcee / auctioneer, and all those who had a hand in making this event so succcessful.
