GFWC LUTZ-LAND O’LAKES WOMAN’S CLUB has made a donation to Pathlight International, presented by Elayne Bassinger to Laura Connelly, Director of Operations. Ms. Connelly is also President of GFWC North Pinellas Woman’s Club and has brought her sister club (Lutz-Land O’Lakes) into a collaborative effort to assist in the mission of Pathlight through education-based projects, training and mentoring, as well as transforming and improving physical schools in Belize. In addition to donations, club members have participated in hands-on projects in the supported schools in Belize on service trips to the island and have made a definite impact on educational standards in this country.
WOMAN’S CLUB VOLUNTEERS AT LUTZ ELEMENTARY ‘OLDEN DAY’
GFWC LUTZ-LAND O’LAKES WOMAN’S CLUB members, under the direction of Education Committee Chair Pat Wagner, again volunteered at the Annual Lutz Elementary School’s “Olden Day 2019” celebration and assisted students with various arts and crafts projects. The Woman’s Club has supported Lutz Elementary and many other schools in the community for decades through volunteerism and donations.
WOMAN’S CLUB DONATES TO ShelterBox Disaster Relief Agency
GFWC LUTZ-LAND O’LAKES WOMAN’S CLUB members, led by its International Outreach Committee Chairs Elayne Bassinger and Madeline McCulloh, recently delivered a donation check of $1,000 to ShelterBox USA. The committee worked hard to raise the funds to provide a shelter box, pictured above, which contains everything from a tent to lifesaving supplies to families displaced by disasters. The ShelterBox organization is an international disaster relief services agency serving those who have lost everything.
WOMAN’S CLUB FABULOUS FLEA FASHION SHOW
GFWC LUTZ-LAND O’LAKES WOMAN’S CLUB held its annual Flea Fashion Show featuring haute couture fashions culled from donations to their Flea Market. Attendance was at a record high and the room was filled to overflowing for this fun event. Eight member models strutted their stuff, which was auctioned to benefit and support the many charities and projects of the Woman’s Club.
WOMAN’S CLUB DONATES TO ‘SUPPORT THE TROOPS’
GFWC LUTZ-LAND O’LAKES WOMAN’S CLUB recently made a generous donation to Support The Troops in Wesley Chapel. Chairwoman Dee Knerr presented the Director with a club check to help with postage costs in mailing packages of needed items to military troops stationed abroad. Ms. Knerr, Ms. Finn and a number other club members volunteer many hours each year to this organization and its mission.
WOMAN’S CLUB TURNS OUT IN RED FOR HEART MONTH
GFWC LUTZ-LAND O’LAKES WOMAN’S CLUB supported women’s cardiac health and promoted education of the warning signs of heart attacks and strokes at its recent meeting. The club women turned out in red for each of its February meetings and gatherings to symbolize awareness of this serious health issue and most particularly for women.
