LUTZ-LAND O’LAKES WOMAN’S CLUB DELIVERS SLEEP MATS FOR THE HOMELESS

June 17, 2021

GFWC LUTZ-LAND O’LAKES WOMAN’S CLUB members, KarenSue Molis and Aniko Solomonson delivered a fully loaded cartful of sleep mats hand-crocheted by a number of club women to The Well, an organization which serves the homeless in Tampa.  These mats are made from recycled plastic grocery bags and can easily be rolled up and carried, while serving as a waterproof barrier for those in need.   Ms. Solomonson brought this project to the woman’s club a number of years ago and has taught members and mentored other clubs in this project of dual purposes: helping the homeless and keeping these plastic bags out of our landfills.

GFWC LUTZ-LAND O’LAKES WOMAN’S CLUB’S FABULOUS ROARING 20’s LUNCHEON

June 8, 2021

GFWC LUTZ-LAND O’LAKES WOMAN’S CLUB wrapped up their business year with a very festive and sparkling Roaring 20’s themed luncheon at the Temple Terrace Country Club.  The ladies were dazzling in their fringed frocks and headbands, all sequined, bejewelled and feathered to the hilt.  The ladies celebrated the end of a long, difficult covid club business year, however will by no means take a summer hiatus but will continue their projects and volunteerism throughout.

GFWC LUTZ-LAND O’LAKES WOMAN’S CLUB proudly announces a total of $23,950 in Scholarship awards for 2021.  For more than a decade the club has had the privilege of administering the Lutz Fireman’s Endowment Fund on behalf of the former Lutz Volunteer Fire Department.  Each year two scholarships have been awarded to students who are Lutz residents, however the former Fireman’s Fund  Directors generously recommended that, in this challenging pandemic year, the Woman’s Club double the awards to FOUR $5,000 scholarships due to exceptional need in the community.

LUTZ-LAND O’LAKES WOMAN’S CLUB PERFORMS AT STATE CONVENTION

June 8, 2021

GFWC LUTZ-LAND O’LAKES WOMAN’S CLUB had a large member contingent attend the semi-annual GFWC Florida State Convention in Orlando.  Once the business side of the meetings concluded, the gals swung into action.  Members Dee Knerr, Elayne Bassinger, Annette Bellingar and Kay Taylor first performed as a great team of “Pink Ladies” cheerleaders as part of the convention’s “Fifties” theme.  Later, this talented troupe donned their nuns’ habits and swung into a great routine borrowed from the “Sister Act” film and lip-synced “I Will Follow Him” to great applause.  This hard-working volunteer organization not only serves the community but manages to have  great fun as well!
