WOMAN’S CLUB Volunteers at Connerton Elementary School

August 8, 2021

GFWC LUTZ-LAND O’LAKES WOMAN’S CLUB members recently volunteered at Connerton Elementary School in Land O’Lakes.  The club women made quick work of assembling and collating 750 information packets for the students and parents, readying them for the new school year.  The Woman’s Club has long supported local schools through generous annual scholarships as well as hands-on volunteerism such as with this project and many more.

WE NEED YOUR HELP

Help Get May Mann Jennings into the Florida Women’s Hall of Fame!

May Mann Jennings was a leading member of the women’s club movement serving as president of the 9,000+  member Florida Federation of Women’s Clubs from 1914-1917.  It was during her tenure as president that she spearheaded the effort to have Royal Palm State Park established in 1915, later to become part of the Everglades National Park in 1947.  Mrs. Jennings was known as the “Mother of Florida’s Forestry” for her conservation efforts.

GFWC LUTZ-LAND O’LAKES WOMAN’S CLUB LOVES TIE-DYE

July 24, 2021

GFWC LUTZ-LAND O’LAKES WOMAN’S CLUB recently enjoyed a day of crafting tie dye shirts in a myriad of colors and patterns while comfortably outdoors at Oscar Cooler Park in Lutz.  Arts & Culture Chair Lois Cohen was the instructor/director of this fun project and many laughs were had as the ladies recalled their earlier tie dye outfits and experiences back in the 60’s and 70’s.

GFWC LUTZ-LAND O’LAKES WOMAN’S CLUB PRESENTS STARS TO VETERANS AT GOLF OUTING

July 24, 2021

GFWC LUTZ-LAND O’LAKES WOMAN’S CLUB recently attended a fundraiser golf tournament at Innisbrook Golf Resort for the benefit of veterans.  As part of a very popular and ongoing project of the Woman’s Club, its members presented each veteran present with a star, removed from retired American flags, together with a very touching and patriotic verse in a pocket sleeve meant to be worn close to one’s heart.  The recipients were all deeply moved  and very appreciative of their star packets.
