November 12, 2023

GFWC LUTZ-LAND O’LAKES WOMAN’S CLUB held a fundraiser luncheon at the Groves Golf & Country Club to benefit Sunrise of Pasco County, a domestic & sexual violence center, which provides emergency safe shelter to women and children who are victims of abuse, as well as numerous support services.  Club members acknowledged October as the month designated to bring awareness to this problem and donated 2 carloads filled with needed personal items for the shelter residents, as well as a generous check for $1,000 presented to the staff members of Sunrise by the event chair Gail Howard and club President Elaine Bassinger.

GFWC LUTZ-LAND O’LAKES WOMAN’S CLUB HAS MADE A VERY SIGNIFICANT DONATION TO CAMP BOGGY CREEK

October 15, 2023

GFWC LUTZ-LAND O’LAKES WOMAN’S CLUB President Elayne Bassinger and Vice President Peggy Andrews recently presented a large donation check of $5,000 to GFWC Florida President Linda O’Toole to benefit Camp Boggy Creek,  founded in 1996 by Paul Newman and Gen. H. Norman Schwarzkopf. This camp is a medically-sound camp for children with serious illnesses to safely enjoy a carefree camp experience free of cost.  Florida GFWC President Linda O’Toole has chosen this particular charity to be supported by the Florida Federation statewide during her term in office.

These local clubwomen volunteers held several fundraisers and worked very hard to raise their goal in this current climate when so many charitable organizations are in dire need of financial support.

GFWC LUTZ-LAND O’LAKES WOMAN’S CLUB ESO READING SORORITY BOOK CLUB REVIEWS

October 9, 2023

GFWC LUTZ-LAND O’LAKES WOMAN’S CLUB members of its ESO reading Sorority and Book Club met after each chose a book, to re-read and discuss, most of which have been in publication for many decades, however have now found that many such book(s) have been banned from school and library book shelves.  The club members, many of whom are retired teachers, then participated in a very lively discussion on why these books, many of which are classics, are now being banned and whether they should be.

The Woman’s Club has long supported education, local schools and libraries.
