GFWC LUTZ-LAND O’LAKES WOMAN’S CLUB recently invited Sheryl Brown, President of Lighthouse for the Blind & Low Vision, to speak to its members on the services provided to the blind and vision-impaired by guiding them through training to independence through at-home living and navigating the present-day workplace. Club member, Marsha Gibson, who is legally blind, has long advocated for this organization and is its informal liaison within the Woman’s Club which supports Lighthouse. Ms. Gibson demonstrated some of the new special aids and electronic devices now available and very specific to the needs of the blind and low vision population.
Ms. Gibson was honored by the club president for her participation in many club activities and particularly her outreach on behalf of the blind over many years.
