Health and Wellness Community Service Program
The human body, mind and spirit comprise our health and wellness. Our Health & Wellness Community Service Program is designed to improve our wellbeing and address 3 key components: nutrition, disease prevention, and physical and emotional care. Our Community Service Program aims to explore the various opportunities for awareness and advancement of each of these vital areas for our club and in our community, country and world. The opportunities to volunteer and participate are endless….
Our current projects include:
- We have our own health and wellness program called The Green Flash-Fit Ladies Always Stay To help our community, we must stay healthy and well by taking care of ourselves. Our group discusses healthy food choices and preparation as well as challenging ourselves to different ways to stay active.
- Provide information and promote awareness for the prevention of diseases of our minds and bodies within our club and community.
- Create awareness and provide support through activities, events and fundraising for the American Cancer Society, American Heart Association, March of Dimes, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, Special Olympics, Guiding Star Tampa, Light House for the Blind, Meals on Wheels and internationally, Heifer International, Operation Smile and Walgreen’s flu SHOT@LIFE program.
- Sewing comfort pillows, turbans, seatbelt port protectors, NICU baby blankets, infant bereavement envelopes for grieving parents, adult bibs and new to our list, Masks!
- Visiting and providing brunch and dinners for Hope Lodge Tampa/American Cancer Society on the USF Campus.
- Provide nutritious and healthy holiday treats throughout the year to the Lutz and Land O’Lakes Senior Centers as well as to the Angels Senior Living at North Tampa. We promote wellness by hosting holiday parties, providing Christmas morning gifts and our Green Shirt Choir entertains with holiday music.
- Help with emotional care for our community’s children and seniors with stuffed animals to provide comfort in time of distress.
We would love for you to join our GFWC Lutz-Land O’Lakes Woman’s Club and become a part of the Health & Wellness Community Service Program!
